Role of the institution in the Competence Network on Parkinson’s disease
The Clinic for Neurology in Lemgo is a regional center of the Competence Network on Parkinson’s disease and associated to the Central Coordination Center in Marburg.
Description of the institution
The hospital has 55 places at its disposal, 4 more in a special ward for patients with apoplexy, which is fitted out with most progressive equipment. The treatment of acute disturbances of circulation is of prime importance. Beside that exists another clinical emphasis in diagnosis and therapy of movement disorders of the middle and elder age, particularly vague Parkinson syndromes, disturbances of balance and walking and ataxy. There are authorization ambulances for neuro-immunological, neuro-degenerative, hereditary and vascular determined diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system including the therapy with botulinum toxin. Intrathecal therapies are executed in cooperation with the neurosurgery clinic Gilead (Bielefeld). The clinic for neurology Lippe-Lemgo participates in different research projects of the Competence Network Parkinson and in national and multinational clinical and therapeutical studies and is cooperative member of the muscle center Hannover north.
